Tornado and High Wind Roof Damage

Tornado and straight-line wind damage is usually concentrated and directional: one or two slopes take the damage while the rest of the roof looks untouched from the street.

What high wind does to a roof

• Creases and lifts shingle tabs along ridges, rakes and eaves
• Peels back sections of underlayment once the covering opens
• Displaces or breaks tile at hips and ridges
• Loosens metal panel seams and backs out exposed fasteners
• Drives debris impacts across the field

What to do first

Get emergency tarping on any open area to limit further interior damage, then get the roof documented with photos before repairs cover the evidence.
